“Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied.”
Isaiah 53:11a
Go ahead.
Make your list.
Those things you don’t have.
The things you’ve done wrong.
The things the world has done to you.
The things you could never accept. Not in a million years.
Those are your griefs —
They’re yours.
We all have a list.
Even if we can’t bear to look at it.
Those griefs —
They hurt.
To the core. They color everything.
Suffocating sometimes.
Those griefs are real.
There is one who has borne all of them.
Every
last
one.
None of them surprise.
None of them derail.
Jesus.
I am not afraid of your grief.
I am in your grief.
And I’m on the other side.
Waiting for you.
There is a road.
It’s set before you.
Go.
With endurance
And witnesses.
Go.
Bring me your griefs.
Let me carry your sorrow.
Don’t pretend like it’s not there.
Bring them to me.
I can hold them.
Jesus.
Despised and rejected.
Esteemed not.
Pierced.
Crushed.
Chastised.
Wounded.
Oppressed.
Afflicted.
Slaughtered.
But, satisfied and
Healed.
What a beautiful and terrible expression of the sorrows and disappointments of this life. Thank you for sharing your grief and calling us all to faith, which really is hoping in the midst of any burden, I pray that we all find comfort that stirs our love for Christ in pain and sorrow. For surely He has carried them! I read and respond to this with many tears, because I want to bear your burdens with you, and ” weep with those who weep.”
I was in Panera this week and wished we could meet there and talk like we used to. You are loved dear friend!
