Poem: I see the clouds

I see the clouds. Gray and foreboding.
Covering the sky.
They hover. And long for release.

The day closes. The sky goes dark.
The clouds remain, but blend into the darkness.
Unseen. Waiting.

Tomorrow breaks. The clouds in full view.
Shifted to one side.
They hover. And long for release.

Grass is greener. Flowers redder.
My skin richer. Under the bubbled sky.
Fresh tears fall to the ground.

Release comes.
But only for a moment.
A teaspoon of hope sustains.

Another wanders. Looks up.
Laments. Is downcast.
Sees the clouds. Does not see the hope.

The two embrace. The clouds in full view.
Shifted to one side.
They hover. And wait for release.

Eyes are brighter. Heads higher.
Shoulders looser. Under the bubbled sky.
Fresh tears fall to the ground together.

Release comes.
For a moment longer.
A pint of hope surfaces.

The day closes. The sky goes dark.
The two move on. Separate.
But known.
